Transport Company FirstGroup has extended its deal with the government to run services on the Great Western rail network.

The improvements being made are: electric train services on the network, starting with services in the Thames Valley and additional train capacity at peak times. more services to Devon and Cornwall are added and 369 new train carriages have been added.

Great Western will pay the government about £68m in order to move forward and develop further which operates services between main cities, in and out of England.

The Department for Transport has stated that improvements are being made to benefit the passengers an example of this is the adding of three million extra seats across the network.

FirstGroup will also be responsible for introducing the new Hitachi Intercity Express Trains between London, Bristol, South Wales, the Cotswolds. 

Innovation - The idea of adding more for the sake of the customer is a current strategy and need for the company. The innovation of additional seats and carriages and the trains going more frequently to different locations are all put in place to appeal to the target audience and potential customers so that more profit comes to the company
